Looking for convenient fast food vegan options at Chipotle? From pre-made bowls to vegan friendly protein choices, you can make your own perfect vegan meal at Chipotle. Check out the guide below to help you discover your next best vegan meal at Chipotle!
Fun Fact: The number of ingredients on Chipotle's menu is 53. That is less than a pack of Doritos and Flaming Hot Cheetos combined.
Chipotle is one of my favorite fast food chain restaurants. They are one of the few restaurants that offer fresh, clean ingredients and have protein choices that cater to vegans. The choices are easily customizable and as a customer, you can control every single food item they put in your order.
Their plant based options are so delicious that we've recreated our own copycat version of Chipotle's sofritas recipe.
Plus, they are investing more in vegan meats, that deliver high-protein, fiber rich alternatives to animal meats.

How To Order Vegan Options At Chipotle
Here is how you order at Chipotle:
- Choose your Base: You can choose among a burrito, burrito bowl, salad or Tacos. The Tortillas used in burritos and tacos are not gluten free, so it's best to avoid if you are on a gluten free diet.
- Select your Filling: You can choose between brown rice and white rice, black beans and pinto beans and your protein. For protein options, you have the option to select Sofritas (plant based protein - scrambled tofu) or veggie (vegetables and guacamole).
- Choose your Toppings: Most toppings are vegan friendly. You can choose almost any toppings you like for your meal with the exception of cheese, sour cream, and queso blanco.
Chipotle has only 17 main vegan ingredients. But when you look at all the ways you can mix and match these ingredients, there are over 16,000 possible combinations, which can get overwhelming!
I'm going to make choosing a lot easier by recommending healthy tofu and non-tofu based choices in each category to simplify your meal building process.
Vegan Burrito Choices
The burrito is a heavy carb option but you can make this healthier by skipping extra carbs such as beans and rice in your burrito. Opt in for Softritas, or fajita veggies and spice it up with salsa.
Here are a couple of recommendations to make your vegan burritos:
- Sofritas and Fajita Veggies Burrito: Choose Sofritas, fajita veggies, romaine lettuce and tomatillo-green chili salsa in a flour tortilla. Nutrition: 505 cal. 19g fat, 17g protein, 68g carbs.
- Supergreens Burrito: Choose fajita veggies, guacamole, supergreens lettuce blend, fresh tomato salsa in a flour tortilla. Nutrition: 600 cal. 31g fat, 11g protein, 68g carbs.
Vegan Burrito Bowl Choices
Burrito bowls are essentially a de-constructed burrito without the tortilla wrap. If you are opting for a lower carb profile, or going gluten free, a burrito bowl is a great choice for you.
Here are a couple of burrito bowls to consider that have half the carbs as the burritos:
- Double Sofritas Bowl: Get a double serving of sofritas, romaine lettuce, fresh tomato salsa, tomatillo-green chili salsa, and guacamole. Nutrition: 575 cal. 42g fat, 18g protein, 35g carbs.
- Pinto Beans and Fajita Veggies Bowl: Pack in those veggies by choosing Black beans, fajita veggies, romaine lettuce, fresh tomato salsa, and guacamole. Nutrition: 410 cal. 44g fat, 11g protein, 39g carbs.
Vegan Taco Choices
You can choose between 1 and 3 tacos and between crispy and soft tacos to hold your filling. The corn tortilla has slightly fewer calories than the soft flour taco, but it is on the crunchy side if that is your vibe.
Here are a couple of customizations you can order to make this a balanced meal:
- Black Bean and Fajita Veggies Tacos: Black beans, fajita veggies, romaine lettuce, fresh tomato salsa, and guacamole in crispy corn tortillas. Nutrition (1 taco serving): 127 cal. 4g fat, 4g protein, 20g carbs.
- Sofritas and Supergreens Tacos: Sofritas, supergreens lettuce blend, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, and guacamole in crispy corn tortillas. Nutrition (1 taco serving): 247 cal. 14g fat, 7g protein, 24g carbs.
Vegan Salad Choices
Choosing a salad is very similar to choosing a burrito bowl. The difference is that all salads come with a pre-mix of their supergreens lettuce blend made of Romaine, Baby Kale, and Baby Spinach.
Here are some options to consider when ordering a vegan salad at chipotle:
- Sofritas and Fajita Veggies Salad: Sofritas, fajita veggies, lettuce blend, extra tomatillo-green chili salsa, and guacamole. Skip the chipotle honey vinaigrette and use the salsa as the dressing. Nutrition: 435 cal. 32g fat, 11g protein, 31g carbs.
- Fajita Veggies Salad: If you are avoiding soy, this could be a good option to get. Choose Fajita veggies, lettuce blend, roasted chili-corn salsa, extra tomatillo-red chili salsa, and guacamole. Skip the chipotle honey vinaigrette (as it's not vegan) and use the salsa as the dressing. Nutrition: 395 cal. 24g fat, 6g protein, 38g carbs.
Chips, Dips and Sides
You can choose amongst almost any of Chipotle's chips and dips set as a vegan eater. The one combination you would want to avoid is the chips + queso blanco option.
All their salsas are fair game and vegan friendly!
Tips When Ordering Your Vegan Meal at Chipotle
- Lifestyle Bowls: Can't make up your mind on an order? Go for their Lifestyle Bowls, which are pre-configured for you. For vegans, your options are the plant powered bowl (contains tofu/sofritas) or the veggie full bowl (no tofu/sofritas).
- Allergen Friendly Guide: Chipotle has an allergen friendly guide to reference - highly helpful for those who have allergies to gluten, dairy, soy, sulfites.
- 2X Protein: If you are looking to add more protein to your meals, you can double up your sofritas filling, which gives you an extra 8g of protein.
- Budgeting Tip: Sign up for Chipotle rewards. It's free and works just like Starbucks rewards. Sometimes Chipotle will give you a surprise free drink or side of guacamole just for being a member. They also have deals or challenges that help you save money on your next meal!
